What am I doing here? Why am I at work right now when I should be enjoying a four day weekend? This makes no sense to me. I had plans to go riding all day today but all that changes with several call from work late last night.
Superman Returns Again
Thu, 2006-06-29 - 11:34 am | by RichIt is done. Tickets are purchased for tomorrow night's 12:25am showing of Superman Returns: An IMAX 3D Experience at Universal City Walk. We didn't get the right tickets last time and saw it on the normal theater. This time, though, there's no doubt it'll be IMAX. In a way, I'm happy we didn't get to see it at the IMAX the first time because now I have something new to look forward to. Can't wait to see the Last Son of Krypton do his thing all over again!

Superman Returns
Wed, 2006-06-28 - 1:42 am | by RichOk, how old am I again?! I mean I found myself constantly tightening up every muscle in my body during the intensity. I surprised myself laughing at every corny joke. I even caught myself tearing up every time he fell. And I just couldn't help but cheering and clapping for the victories. Superman Returns is done in the spirit of the 1978 movie and it's a successful homage to the Donner flick in every way. It's safe to say the franchise is in great hands with Bryan Singer. This is one I'll be seeing many times over in the theater for sure. I'm a kid all over again in absolute awe at how big this movie is and the feeling is priceless.

Spider-Man 3!!!
Tue, 2006-06-27 - 3:24 pm | by RichJeez. I've been having a super hero overload for the past couple of weeks and the fact the Spider-Man 3 trailer was released today is definitely not helping. Looks like they're going to do it right with the symbiote, Eddie Brock, and Gwen Stacy added into the mix. Looks amazing!

Superman Now Please
Mon, 2006-06-26 - 10:24 pm | by RichJust another 22 hours and 46 minutes until I see Superman Returns on the IMAX at Universal. I hope I'm not setting myself up for a huge disappointment, but I have a feeling it's going to be simply fantastic. The fact they are continuing from the previous movies and aren't rewriting the timeline is great. I've heard everything is done in the spirit of the original Donner film and that's good news because that movie has always been and always will be amazing. They're even keeping the major score themes by John Williams. It just can't suck.
A Quickie
Thu, 2006-06-22 - 2:41 pm | by RichWell I'm definitely not posting as much as I'd like to this year. It's not like much isn't happening. I'm just not in the posting mood for some reason. Maybe I'm just lazy. In any case, I'm here right now. I'll just update with some short, random comments. - After jebus knows how many years, my company has finally gotten on the ball and put a 401k plan in place. It's about damn time.- It was Grant's b-day on Tuesday so head on over to his MySpace and send him wishes. He also had sex for the first time in like umpteenth years so congrat him for that also. Way to go G-Rant. I'm sure he appreciates me mentioning it too.- Have put 1500 miles on my new toy in the last 4 weeks. It's kinda a lot so I'll probably tone it down and ride the other bike to work for a little bit. It gets better gas mileage anyways.- How f-ing stupid was X-men 3? X2 completely set everything up to be so good and then the studios grace us with that total piece of crap follow up. I left that movie angry.- Speaking of super hero movies, I can't wait for Superman Returns! It's going to be amazing for sure. They kept the same inspiring John Williams theme for it and that don't suck. Hopefully seeing it on an IMAX screen next Tuesday.- I can't seem to get my weight to drop under 160 consistently. Had no problems getting it from 195 to 165, but it's just stuck at 160 right now. Want to get rid of another 10 lbs before the 10 year high school reunion in a month.Alright, it's back to work for me, but I'll see what I can come up with later.
The Dark One Cometh...

2006 Honda CBR600RR... It's All Mine!
Sat, 2006-05-20 - 5:52 pm | by RichBeen looking for a while now and after riding all '06 600s, I finally decided on the CBR600RR. Simply amazing. It's funny how you start off saying "I want something unique" but in the end it turned out to be a red Honda. Even though it's the oldest of the 600s now, there's a reason why they outsell every other 600 on the market. Had to go with red too because it's just the nicest color on the bike and all of my cars are red. I think I made a good decision here and an even better one before when I bought the GS which I don't ever plan on giving up. Because of that, now more than ever, I'm a firm believer that these 600 super sports are just too much bike for the person just starting out.I just picked it up last night. Been working with the dealer for some time now and they finally gave me a deal I just wasn't able to pass up. $8884.01 OTD with $955 down and the rest financed through my credit union for 5%. That was for the bike, a 5 year extended warranty, GAP coverage, and some very good discounts on gear. Like I said. Just couldn't pass it up. Full coverage is going to add another $600 to my policy per year and that doesn't suck either. I've locked it up inside my parent's house for right now until I get it on my policy. After that, I can look forward to 600 miles of break-in time and another infinite miles of riding bliss. Now for some crappy camera phone pics. I'll put up some nicer ones later, but you can see more crappy ones in my gallery.
Jury Duty Done
Wed, 2006-04-26 - 11:58 am | by RichWell that was easy. I was in there for maybe two hours before they told us we could all leave. Said we were lucky because here were five cases at the time and all of them made decisions real quick. They dismissed us. I don't have to call back. I don't have to go back. My obligation is fulfilled. Go me!
Jury Duty
Tue, 2006-04-25 - 11:40 pm | by RichWell, I report for jury duty for the very first time in my life on Wednesday morning. I have no idea what to expect. The only thing I am sure of is how pissed off I am about it and having to go into work after I'm done. Hopefully it's just one day and I'm out, but I've heard the horror stories. Hope I don't have one of my own. I'm sure I'll be on here bitching about the entire thing soon enough too.
Dale Jr's Black Car
Tue, 2006-04-25 - 10:14 am | by RichFox Sports: "The usually red No. 8 will be predominantly black with white lettering and silver and red stripes in honor of the life and brilliant career of the late Dale Earnhardt. The paint scheme mimics the design the elder Earnhardt made famous in his career while driving for Richard Childress Racing in the Cup Series and Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) in the Busch Series."I love it! Can't wait for the die-cast to become available.
Off To Rosarito Again
Wed, 2006-04-05 - 4:25 am | by RichLater tonight, I leave for Rosarito again. Going with Dan, Grant, and his pseudo girlfriend. Should be back sometime Monday night. I've been trying to keep up that diet so I can feel comfortable taking my shirt off at the beach, but I don't think I'm quite there yet. Down to 170lbs which is ok, but I still want to lose another 10-15lbs. Being 5'8", about 155lbs sounds about right, yes no? The diet part and eating healthy in general was the easy part. Now I'm actually going to have to work out to get rid of the flab. Ugh... work!Umm, I'm moving to a new place at the end of this month. It's a big deal considering I've been at my current place for 7 years now. Also looking to upgrade to a new bike. I'll talk more about those things when I get back. I'll keep my fingers crossed to not get nabbed by the authorities.
High School Reunion Coming
Wed, 2006-03-22 - 3:23 pm | by RichMy 10 year high school reunion is coming up in July. 10 years! I can't believe how long it's been. Am I interested in going? Oh hell yes! Why? I have no idea, but I know I'm going to make it fun for myself. That's for sure. I never really understood the point of reunions before this week. I mean why would you ever want to see those people again? It was probably the time in your life where you were most ignorant to how the "real world" worked so chances are you probably didn't come off being very smart. I know I didn't. So I'm doing this to prove to other people I've grown up a little? I'm happy with just myself, my family, and my friends knowing that. Is it to reconnect yourself with people you haven't seen or talked to in a while? Why? There's obviously a reason these people leave your life. If I wanted to stay in contact with them, I would have.So I did say I felt this way up until this week. Well, I kind of understand it now. You simply do somehow lose track of people that you do want to keep in touch with and the reunion does help you find them. I've had a couple people either call me or e-mail me this week that I haven't talked to for forever now and it actually has been great to hear from them.So yeah. I feel old. Questions just get brought up that you don't want to hear and have trouble answering. How did I get to be 27 so damn quickly? Am I happy where I am in life? What do I want to accomplish before the 20 year reunion? I guess my general feeling is I'm happy. Why wouldn't I be? Got good family and friends. My job doesn't suck and I make good money at it. I also know I'm capable of more so that leads me to believe it will just get better.Where was I going with this? I'm not so sure. Alright, back to work.
New Hosting Service (again)
Wed, 2006-03-22 - 1:13 pm | by RichSo I moved again to a different hosting provider. This time it's DreamHost. The big things that brought me over to them were the unlimited domains, streaming servers, bandwidth, price, and all of the different applications they have set up for developers. Check them out and if you like them enough to sign up, put my name in the reference field. I'm also doing all of my comments through HaloScan now. Since I'm now off of Userland's slow ass comment server, my site should load reasonably quicker now. All of the past comments I've gathered over the last 4 years are lost now, but I don't think I mind too much. If I can get stingy Userland to fork them over, I'll import them into the HaloScan database.
MacBook Pro Arrived
Tue, 2006-02-21 - 2:40 pm | by RichSomething exciting obviously got me to post here. Oh it's damn exciting too. My MacBook Pro is here! A full 2 weeks sooner than the estimated arrival date. A 2.0GHz Core Duo laptop in all of its glory. Now I just need to get home early and start setting up. Having trouble coming up with a name for this one, though. Ivory was my PowerMac G3 desktop. My PowerBook G3 was, naturally, Ebony. SawTeeth was my dual G4 tower. All of the different revisions of my PC were called Monolith. Can't figure out what I'm gonna call this new one. Suggestions?
Scarsdale Medical Diet
Tue, 2006-02-21 - 2:33 pm | by RichI've just started my second week on a diet. My first diet ever really. Never even tried before because it seemed like there was way too much tracking involved. I don't want to have to count calories, make special foods, or even think too hard about what I'm going to eat next. That's why I went with the Scarsdale Medical Diet. No counting. No guessing. There's a very specific menu you MUST follow and that's just easy for me. Putting no thought into it and just eating what it tells me too. It's been a pain in my ass, but I've already lost about 6 pound in one week. I guess the terrible lunches and crappy snacks are worth it. Good news is all the dinners are meat and fish. Big fan of meat and fish here. I'll do an update on this next week.
Where's My Money?!
Mon, 2006-01-30 - 2:34 pm | by RichDid you guys see Family Guy last night? If you didn't, you missed some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen with Stewie. Check out these movies.
Lutz's Impressions of the Camaro Concept
Mon, 2006-01-23 - 11:29 am | by RichIf you have any interest in the Camaro Concept, you need to see this video from Auto Spies. It's Robert Lutz walking around the Detroit concept while giving his impressions of the car. He even goes into pricing if the vehicle would go into production. It's worth the 10 minutes.
Aborted Camaro Concept Design
Fri, 2006-01-20 - 9:39 am | by RichWant to see what the original Camaro Concept that would have been released at the 2005 show last year? It got scrapped and transformed into the one we know today. Autoblog has the story.2006 Camaro Concept that we all know.Original concept that was scheduled for release in 2005.Sketch of the original concept's front end.Sketch of the original concept's rear end.Clay model of a strange fastback version.Original concept next to a 1st-gen Camaro.Hmm. The original concept looks way too much like a 1st-gen Camaro and that fastback version is just ugly. I'm happy they went back and made the thing look revolutionary instead of evolutionary. People need to know this is a new vehicle that only shares the name and heart of the original Camaro.
